How to use CheckDragonfly
A short, practical guide: from signing in to reading your results. Most checks take a few minutes from start to finish.
Getting started
Use the Sign in with X button at the top of the page. Sign-in is read-only: CheckDragonfly can see your public profile and posts, and it never posts for you. Your sign-in stays active for 30 days, or until you sign out.
Open Get Price and type the username you want to check. You see the price for that exact account before you pay. Getting a price never runs a check. When you check someone else’s account you can also say what prompted the check; the report then answers each concern with the evidence for and against it, shown only to you and without changing the score. There is one report, and every report includes every feature; only the price changes, with how active the account is. If some pictures in a paid check cannot be read, their part of the price, sales tax included, is refunded automatically to the card you paid with and you are told by email.
Select Begin Evaluation. Before your first check you read and approve the current Privacy Policy, Terms of Service and Disclaimer, then choose Approve and continue. You only need to do this again when a document changes.
Type the X username (without the @) in the username field and select Check. You can check your own account or any public account.
A progress bar shows each step as CheckDragonfly reads the account, analyzes the evidence and writes up the results, with the time elapsed and an estimated finish.
Reading your results
Every result opens with a conclusion, a score from 0 to 100 and a confidence level, followed by the reasons behind them.
| Conclusion | What it means |
|---|---|
| Few measured patterns observed | Few of the patterns this report measures were observed in the public activity that could be read. This describes the measurements, not the person. |
| Some measured patterns observed | Some of the patterns this report measures were observed. Each one is listed below with its evidence and ordinary explanations. |
| Several measured patterns observed | Several of the patterns this report measures were observed. Read them together and in context; many have ordinary explanations. |
| Many measured patterns observed | Many of the patterns this report measures were observed. Each is listed with its evidence and ordinary explanations; none is a conclusion about the person. |
| A pattern worth a closer look | A specific measured pattern is listed with its evidence and ordinary explanations. It is an observation, not a conclusion about the person. |
| Limited public history | There is not enough public history in this window to describe the measured patterns. This is not a negative finding. |
Confidence tells you how much the result had to go on: high, medium or low. An account can score well with low confidence when there is little to read.
Below the conclusion you will find Why (the main reasons), The account (profile and history), Activity and content (the last 30 days of public posts, with charts of posting by day and hour) and Record (when the check ran and which scoring version was used). Each finding is written in plain language with the evidence behind it.
Keep in mind. A result is an evidence-based assessment of what was public on X at the time of the check. It is not identity verification or a background check, and it can be incomplete or wrong. Use it alongside your own judgment. See How scoring works for the details.
After a check
Your checks are kept in your History. From each one you can:
- Open the full result again at any time, at no cost.
- Recheck the account to see what has changed. A recheck is a new check, and a new check fee applies.
- Share link: create a read-only link to the result to send to someone else.
- PDF: download the full report, or Email it.
- Save the account to your Watchlist.
- Compare two checks side by side.
The landing page
The page opens on a live view of the open ocean over the Challenger Deep: the sun, moon, stars and weather there right now. While a check runs, the page shows how it is going; choose Just show progress or press Esc for a plain progress view. Move your pointer over the top of the page to show the menu, including the motion and sound settings and the dark, light and system display options. On a phone, use the menu button at the top right.
